Da Nang Rooftop Craft Beer: Craft, Han River Views & Hookah

Rooftop bars in Da Nang are few, and the ones you actually want to return to are fewer still. Da Nang Rooftop Craft Beer hides on the roof of a five-storey building right in the centre: no pretension, people stumble onto it and then keep coming back. I spent a few evenings here and I am telling it straight, no marketing gloss.

The view worth the climb

The main reason to come is the panorama. The open terrace looks straight onto the riverfront and the Han River bridge that lights up at night; on weekends you can catch the Dragon Bridge breathing fire. Grab a seat by the railing around 6 pm for the sunset, then the city lighting up. One of the best views in central Da Nang — and it comes with a cold beer, not a separate observation-deck ticket.

Atmosphere: an honest industrial rooftop

No polish, and that is the charm. Barrels for tables, warm fairy lights, a neon sign, wood and metal. The place is small and intimate; there is a DJ in the evenings, but the music never drowns out conversation. Powerful fans help in the heat. The crowd is relaxed — you can show up in beach shorts.

Craft on tap — at fair prices

Behind the bar is a full row of taps: Vietnamese craft and mainstream, pale lagers, IPA, something dark. Get a tasting set and find your own — many praise the Octoberfest. Prices, by the reviews, run lower than most bars around, with the odd promo. One honest detail: a couple of popular pours sometimes run out — but the bartenders will suggest a solid alternative, which says 'busy turnover' more than 'downside'.

The snacks pair well: fried tofu with chilli and crispy onion (one guest called it the best south of Hanoi), dried squid, fried fish (fish & chips) — fresh and genuinely good, just mind the bones. There are creative cocktails too if beer is not your thing.

No rose-tinted glasses: the food is clearly pricier than the beer — expect to pay up for the kitchen, so people come mainly for 'a drink with a view'. And yes, the floor and some of the furniture could use a refresh — but honestly, on a rooftop with a view like this, worn boards are the last thing you notice.

Service everyone notices

A theme that repeats across reviews is the staff. Friendly, attentive, they remember regulars who drop by twice a week. Several wheelchair guests specifically thank the team and the owner for help 'from A to Z' — for a fifth-floor rooftop that means a lot. At Christmas guests were given treats. People return largely because of this human touch.

Hookah — a reason of its own to return

The hookah here gets praise too — guests confirm it ('they make a great hookah, no fuss'). The tobacco menu is wide: Darkside, Adalya and more — from strong dark blends to light fruity and berry mixes, including sour and dessert. Packed well, smooth draw, plenty of smoke, lasts long — exactly what a rooftop calls for next to a cold craft.

The heart of the hookah here is the master, Kostya: he will suggest a mix for your mood, dial in the strength and tend it all evening so it never fades. That kind of service turns 'just one drink' into 'stayed till late'.

Good craft, a proper hookah and the best view in the centre.

Is it worth it?

Absolutely. Da Nang Rooftop Craft Beer is a rare combination: a view like a pricey observation deck, lively craft, attentive service, hookah for every taste and no 'top-floor surcharge'. Tip: arrive 20–30 minutes before sunset, take a spot by the railing, order your first beer and a hookah from Kostya — while the sun is still over the river. The best place in central Da Nang to start the evening.
