Hoi An Ranks 4th Best City in the World for 2026 by Travel + Leisure
The ancient town of Hoi An continues to make its mark on the international tourism map, honored by the prestigious magazine Travel + Leisure in the category 'World's Best Cities 2026' (World's Best Awards). With a score of 91.81, Hoi An ranks 4th in the list of the world's top 10 cities, trailing only San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), Kyoto (Japan), and Chiang Mai (Thailand).
In the 'Best Cities in Asia 2026' category, Hoi An also secured 3rd place, behind Kyoto and Chiang Mai. It is the only Vietnamese city to appear on both of these prestigious rankings. The results are based on a survey of over 207,000 Travel + Leisure readers, evaluating cities on overall travel experience, food quality, culture, accommodations, and visitor satisfaction.
Travel + Leisure was particularly impressed by Hoi An's ancient beauty: moss-covered brick streets, yin-yang tiled roofs, vibrant colorful lanterns, and a slow, peaceful pace of life. Beyond its architectural heritage, the magazine also praised the diversity of travel experiences here—from savoring local specialties like cao lau, Mi Quang, and banh mi, to visiting Tra Que vegetable village, Bay Mau coconut forest, or cycling through rural rice fields.
This recognition for Hoi An not only enhances the destination's image internationally but also opens up opportunities for tourism connections between Da Nang and Hoi An, creating an attractive cultural and beach tourism cluster for both domestic and international travelers.
