Vietnam sets record with 10.6 million international visitors in first five months of the year
According to newly released data, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in the first five months of 2026 reached 10.6 million, the highest ever for the same period. This figure demonstrates the strong recovery of the tourism industry after a difficult period, while also affirming Vietnam's growing appeal on the global tourism map.
However, May saw a slight slowdown due to seasonal factors. This reflects the cyclical nature of the industry: after the peak of the April 30 – May 1 holiday and early summer break, visitor numbers typically decrease slightly before entering the official summer peak season. Experts say this is a normal phenomenon and does not affect the overall outlook for the year.
For Da Nang and the central provinces, this is a positive signal as the city has always been among the favorite destinations for international tourists. With the expansion of Terminal 2 at the international airport and a series of major events such as DIFF and DANAFF taking place, Da Nang can certainly look forward to a peak summer tourist flow ahead.
