Khanh Hoa faces shortage of Russian-speaking guides as Russian tourist numbers surge nearly fivefold
Khanh Hoa – a central coastal destination – is witnessing a boom in Russian tourists in the first months of the year. According to the latest data, the number of Russian visitors to the province has increased nearly five times compared to the same period last year. However, the human resources serving this group of tourists have not kept pace with the growth.
The entire province currently has only 83 tour guides with Russian language certification, a number far too low compared to actual demand. Many travel companies are desperately seeking staff, even though they are willing to pay higher salaries than the average. This situation causes tours for Russian tourists to be frequently delayed or combined with other groups, affecting the quality of the experience.
Besides Khanh Hoa, central provinces such as Da Nang and Quang Nam are also welcoming a significant number of Russian tourists. To meet the demand, training centers and businesses need a long-term strategy for training foreign language human resources, especially Russian, to avoid a prolonged shortage. This is a problem not only for Khanh Hoa but also a common challenge for Vietnam's tourism industry.
